Seniors in Cyberspace

Why   Peer Networks   Investing Online   Too Old?   Need for Technical Help

Many seniors first go online to stay in touch with grandchildren. From there a high percentage discover the Web where literally at their fingertips they find an astonishing array of information on such subjects as travel, health, genealogy, gardening, investment and retirement planning.

Ann Wrixon, Executive Director of Senior Net says: "For many older people, computers allow them to feel as if their world is still expanding. They allow you to form new friendships and become more intellectually mobile."

Today there is Internet access at libraries and community centres. Indeed the issue for many seniors today is not fear of new technology but rather having affordable access to learning, equipment, and computer application programs.
